Secure sign-in

JavaScript is required

The Markero web client cannot sign in or decrypt messages without JavaScript.

Why? Markero generates and unlocks your PGP keys in your browser. The private key is wrapped with a client-only secret and never reaches the server in plaintext. Without JavaScript, the browser cannot create or unlock that key material.

We will not move key generation or message decryption to the server. Doing that would break end-to-end encryption.

Using Tor Browser

Tor Browser's Safest security level disables JavaScript, including on onion pages. Set the security level to Standard for this onion site, reload, and then log in or create an account.

If you need JavaScript disabled, use the Markero Android app with Orbot. The web client cannot work without JavaScript.

What to do

  1. Open the Tor Browser shield menu and choose Standard.
  2. Reload the onion page.
  3. Log in or create an account.
